About Low Back Pain

Low back pain is a common disorder affecting about 80% of people at some point in their lives.
In the United States it is one of the most common causes of job-related disability.
In approximately 85% of cases, there is no clear cause.
Up to one-third of patients with acute low back pain have persistent pain one year after their initial episode.

Despite the high prevalence and cost of low back pain, important questions remain unanswered regarding the effectiveness of most commonly used diagnostic tests and treatments.
