The goal of the Early Imaging study is to examine the consequences of early imaging in the elderly by comparing patients who receive early imaging to those who do not.

Spinal Stenosis Image Patients and clinicians both tend to under-appreciate the disadvantages of diagnostic testing. Spine imaging in older patients has can lead to adverse labeling, unnecessary treatments, anxiety, and worse health quality of life. Most imaging guidelines are based on studies that excluded patients older than 50 or 55 because of the increased prevalence of serious conditions in the elderly. However, those 65 and older are precisely the group of patients where the rate of incidental lumbar imaging findings is highest.
